When I was younger,I remember my mom being awed by what was being called new math. It was shorter and simpler than what she had been taught when she was in elementary school and high school. I’m proud to say that my mom went back to school to help further her chances in the work field and graduated with honors. Not only that but she got the hang of the so called new math. Well mom, there’s a new math in town. It’s new trigonometry. It seems that mathematical students in New South Wales have discovered a simpler new way of calculating without using sines, cosines, and tangents. The use of trigonometric tables or calculators are obsolete and your calculations are more accurate . Hey mom just think we both got to see mathematical history. Now who’s going to be the first to learn it .
I am a big fan of foreign films, especially Latin films. I have found a website that calls itself “The space for Latin American cinema” (El lugar del cine latinoamericano). Cinema Tropical is a “non-profit organization dedicated to the distribution, programming and promotion of Latin American cinema in the U.S.” I recently watched a film titled Sexual Dependency (Dependencia Sexual) and immediately afterwards I wanted to know who made it. I won’t tell you the film, I’d rather you watch it but after some Internet searching I came across a review on Cinema Tropical. The site provides you with locations as to where a movie is being played, where to get rentals, and with reviews from other publications. If you crave Latin flavor in your cinema, Cinema Tropical is a good place to start. If you come across a film that you absolutely loved, email me and let me know. I’ll watch it and maybe we can find time to discuss it. Sweeet.
