You got to check out this video that someone emailed me about. I can’t remember who it was and when I try to look for the email I can’t find it anywhere. I think it was erased when I was having problems with my pc (didn’t keep a copy in my main mailbox, doh). Anyway, I was reminded about the video by @msmi from Twitter (sometimes known as cxn). You can find the video on Mindistortion.tv which I believe was created by the artist known as heretik which I found on his SheezyArt page. As you look at his portfolio you find he is a 22 yr old student named Manuel Fallmann from Austria. Mindistortion.tv reminds you a lot of the Newsground site but with a personal touch. I should note that Newsground is one of my favorite flash sites. Well, I loved the simplicity of the video and plus it rocks. Click on the pic and check it out.

I had heard about this but it wasn’t until I was reading my feeds and reading the post “Peat Wollaeger Mountain Dew Bottle Project” on Bill Streeter’s website that reminded me of the newly aluminum designed bottles that Mountain Dew was planning to distribute. Mountain Dew calls on twelve young artists to design 12 bottles for their Green Label Art series. On the website for the series the artists will put up videos either explaining their motivation behind their design or just giving us a taste of their creative aura.
Peat Wollaeger is a friend of Bill Streeter (check out Bill’s weekly video blog Lo-Fi Saint Louis to catch up on the music, art, and culture of St. Louie) and Bill helped with the making of Pete’s video for the series. Check out the designs and the videos. Think you can be one of the artist? Well you got until June 30th to show off your stuff. Just click on contest. I’m looking forward to seeing these bottles on the shelf.
I stummbled upon this webpage and was really interested into what and who made up the company. It’s a french company and I believe a special effects creator. But unfortunately I wasn’t able to find out much except form this excerpt from the cache of a web page with the heading “SCHOOL OF VISUAL EFFECTS AND 3D ANIMATION MOVIE”. The website I’m referring to is called def2shoot. Here is what it said:
“DEF2SHOOT was founded in 2002 by four very experienced members of the digital community.
In less than three years, DEF2SHOOT has become a key player of the french visual effect and CGI industry.
The company is now working with some of the leading production houses, delivering high class visual effects for live action movies and commercials, as well as full CG services for TV animated series.”
The site is worth checking out.
This next site is actually a online magazine. It’s called Spartan Dog Magazine. I showcased it because their work is outstanding. Also not only is it a magazine but they have and are in the process of putting their work in a book and on DVD.
2007 appears to be a big year for the Spatan Dog Magazine because that’s the year their having their exhibition as well as the release of the DVD.
I am a fan of daring art and there may be those who may have a distaste for it. But when someone does good work, if you like what they are representing or not, I think as an artist and one who is interested enough to see the work, you should be respectful enough to look at the work in itself. This is not to say you shouldn’t have an opinion on the context, but I believe you can separate the two. Look at the time and creativity that was put in it. Well, I did that with Spartan Dog Magazine and I give top kudos.
The thumbnails alone are awesome.
Hey I came across this website, The Lonely Island , that was founded by a group of guys out of New York that has shorts, music videos, and parady songs that I found quite funny. Akiva Schaffer, Andy Samberg and Jorma Toccone, who are originally from LA, are the creators of these comedic episodes and productions that I’m sure you’ll find silly and yet funny. Also check out Chez-chat, a blog that reports all the news and updates that make up The Lonely Island. Don’t forget to click on extra, you see even more funny shorts, parodies, and videos.
You want to see what daring is? Check out WEFAIL, a flash based website for a highly acclaimed design studio that has
grown from a idea sparked by the love of web design to an award winning portfolio. Jordan Stone and Martin Hughes has provided the user with a visual and interactive experience that cannot be mistaken by any other. Stop by and tell me what you think.
I have to admit, I really tripped when I stumbled on this website. I didn’t know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised.
Have a happy 4th.
I know, I know. It’s been a while since I have posted. Man, school has really kept me busy so I do apologize. I decided I should put something up so I’ll make this quick.
I have been finding myself interested in Macromedia Flash lately and there is a website that has really ma
de the program even more enticing. If you get a chance check out Newgrounds.com. This site is awesome as it showcases the talent of those who have learned to be very creative in the art of animation using Flash.
Here is a short that I really loved called Hanged Man’s Elegy (click watch this movie for it to download). It is totally awesome and the creator of the short is Aleksander Wasilewski from Poland. If you want to see more of his work and learn more about him visit his webpage, WEREHOUSE.NET.
Believe me after you see his short, you’re going to want to know more about this guy. Well, at least I did.
Note: You can also click on the black and white image to connect to the short flash film directly from WEREHOUSE.NET.
