Testing out the iPhone Worpress App
I’m testing out the iPhone WordPress App. I have yet to use it but it’s time to start taking advantage considering I will be adding more videos to the site
Tiff ‘TheFemGeek’ Tate
I am really enjoying myself searching the Internet for shorts, documentaries, music videos, commercials, webisodes, photos (especially from Chicago artists) that I can put on TheFemGeek.com. But I was thinking to myself, does my name mislead others when it comes to what it is that TheFemGeek.com represents?

With “Geek” in my “Internet name”, understandably, people automatically think tech. Now, do not get me wrong I do love tech and if you’ve been following me you will definitely know I am truly a gadget girl (woman). AND I have to admit I’ve been writing more about those in film and photography lately (I’m “geeked” about getting the Canon T2i or Canon 7D). AND it’s obviously something I’m pondering because I have been trying to use Tiff ‘TheFemGeek’ Tate more frequently these days. Here are the definitions that Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary gives for the word Geek:
1 : a carnival performer often billed as a wild man whose act usually includes biting the head off a live chicken or snake
2 : a person often of an intellectual bent who is disliked
3 : an enthusiast or expert especially in a technological field or activity <computer geek>
(Wow, those first two were definitely a whoa)
So should I stick with the name TheFemGeek.com even though my website is not as tech intense as say someone like Chris Pirillo or Molly Wood (I want to acknowledge that the two of these individuals have the background and knowledge to write about what it is they write about. I will note that my schooling background is engineering the first time and I went back for filmmaking.) Well anyway, I can think of two reasons why I should keep it:
1. I’ve already paid for the domain name
and
2. I’ve used this name for so long, it would be just frustrating trying to change (believe me I’ve tried…hence: now using at times Tiff ‘TheFemGeek” Tate)
Now I am going to throw in a 3rd reason. I AM A GEEK! I love my gadgets.I love my digital cameras, digital camcorders, my iPhone, my Blackberry Curve, my Kindle, my iMac, my Macbook, my netbook, my watches, need I go on. And I blog about these wonderful things from time to time. Now I’m wondering why it is I ever questioned it.
So there you have it…I am TheFemGeek and this is TheFemGeek.com. Where you will find info on those in the arts and whatever new gadgets that may have caught my eye
New Look and Feel
Here is the new TheFemGeek.com and I hope you all like it. I’ve been wanting something along the lines of this so I can separate my vlogs from my blog post. I hope to mostly have vlogs on here but there are times when there may be announcements or just something pertaining to the concept of TheFemGeek.com (film, photography, literature, tech,…you know) that just needs to be quickly posted. I do have a personal blog over at Tumblr (Tiff Tate’s Tumblr) if you got a Tumblr account let me know.
So here it is and I’m pretty happy about how it came out. I should have some videos up soon but in the meantime I will promote projects from friends or people I have come across that have become my favs or just really have impressed me. Do come back and check the new TheFemGeek.com out. You might just enjoy it

It’s Been a While
It has been a while since I’ve last posted something here but I assure you that something is coming soon. I have plans to change TheFemGeek.com from it’s look to what content I will post. This website went from me wanting to have a blog to meet new people to wanting to say and show something significant using my video camera. The latter is still my goal. I have had new opportunities thrown my way and hopefully I will be showing you my work from these opportunities soon.
So look for a new template coming soon and I may be even starting fresh and removing old videos I have on here. Life changes and mine has taken many turns; some positive, some negative. But now it’s time for me to reflect that here and hopefully I can share with you the best that’s yet to come
