Hey all, I have been working on another project called The UnScene Chicago and this past week/weekend we went on our first project, the Fixx Reading Series and the Pilcrow Lit Fest. It was the Pilcrow Lit Fest’s first year and Sawyer and I had the chance to document it. So I will be using A Moment with TheFemGeek to do some promoting and working on getting the viewership up. Please do stop by and let me know what you think. The project consist of The UnScene Chicago Blog and The UnScene Chicago TV. On the blog I also have a Fixx Reading Series corner, video, dedicated to the authors in Chicago that partake in the reading series at the Fixx Coffee Bar. Everything is new and it’s still growing and should get better and better as we put our hearts into it. It’s something Sawyer and I believe in and something we want to use to help put Chicago on the map as an entertainment mecca. Enjoy our first video for the Fixx Reading Series which also happened to have been the first day of the Pilcrow Lit fest.

You got to check out this video that someone emailed me about. I can’t remember who it was and when I try to look for the email I can’t find it anywhere. I think it was erased when I was having problems with my pc (didn’t keep a copy in my main mailbox, doh). Anyway, I was reminded about the video by @msmi from Twitter (sometimes known as cxn). You can find the video on Mindistortion.tv which I believe was created by the artist known as heretik which I found on his SheezyArt page. As you look at his portfolio you find he is a 22 yr old student named Manuel Fallmann from Austria. Mindistortion.tv reminds you a lot of the Newsground site but with a personal touch. I should note that Newsground is one of my favorite flash sites. Well, I loved the simplicity of the video and plus it rocks. Click on the pic and check it out.
Spring is still two maybe three seasons away but I think it’s around that time to start planning if you’re going to SXSW 2008. For all of you who do not know what the acronyms SXSW stands for, South by Southwest. It is a set of music, interactive, and film festivals and conferences that take place every spring in Austin, Texas. I have always wanted to go for the film conference and festival ever since I started film school at Columbia College Chicago. But after interacting with many of the blogger, podcasters, vloggers, and the media superstars who went last year I am now eager to attend the conference and festival for interactive media. I think it was at this event last year that the doors of Twitter swung wide open and I walked right in.

Click and scroll right over to the SXSW reservation page and start reserving your passes and making those reservations as to where you’ll be crashing. Of course, the earlier you register, the cheaper it will be. There are student passes but I think you have to choose between film or interactive media. I’m greedy I want them both, I may have to go for the gold. My schedules are tentative to school and finances due to a trip to go to Cabo San Lucas with some friends. So, you’re not alone. I need to start trying to arrange plans so I can be there.
I hope the same group that went last year intend to go as well. It looks as if they had a ball. Will I possibly see you there?
I had heard about this but it wasn’t until I was reading my feeds and reading the post “Peat Wollaeger Mountain Dew Bottle Project” on Bill Streeter’s website that reminded me of the newly aluminum designed bottles that Mountain Dew was planning to distribute. Mountain Dew calls on twelve young artists to design 12 bottles for their Green Label Art series. On the website for the series the artists will put up videos either explaining their motivation behind their design or just giving us a taste of their creative aura.
Peat Wollaeger is a friend of Bill Streeter (check out Bill’s weekly video blog Lo-Fi Saint Louis to catch up on the music, art, and culture of St. Louie) and Bill helped with the making of Pete’s video for the series. Check out the designs and the videos. Think you can be one of the artist? Well you got until June 30th to show off your stuff. Just click on contest. I’m looking forward to seeing these bottles on the shelf.
