Today I wanted to talk about something that has been “plaguing” me for a while…my weight and my need to lose it. I use plaguing because it has been affecting everything in my life. So why not talk about it.

You’ve made a HUGE step and it sounds like you’ve got some really good friends that can help keep you accountable to the things you want to do to make a difference with your weight.
I’ve always had a fairly small frame, but after getting married my wife and I both packed on the pounds and got lazy. It took a while to realize, but once we did, we made changes right away, but starting small (choosing diet sodas instead of regular, getting a membership to the gym, opting out on snacking throughout the day, unless it was “somewhat” healthy). My wife has a testimony and has lost about 60 pounds in 2 years. I’ve lost 20, but put on some muscle in the process. Yeah, it sounds slow, but nothing is going to make you lose weight immediately. You just need to stay dedicated and surround yourself with people you can talk to and who can encourage you.
Also, you’re right about staying active. That does play a large role in getting in shape. Coupled with eating right (not eating late at night, having 4-6 smaller meals per day instead of 2 MASSIVE meals, etc.) you’ll notice a difference fairly soon. Just eating better is not going to do it. You’ve got to eat well AND exercise.
